Kaustinen Folk Music Festival will take place this summer for the 54th time, at least as a virtual event, and hopefully also as a public event!

Kaustinen will continue its efforts to organise individual events and programmes in the festival area from 12 to 18 July. The final scope and format of the events will only be known close to the event date, based on the corona situation and decisions by the authorities.

- Since last summer, the 2021 summer festival has been built on a number of different options. Currently, the corona situation in Central Ostrobothnia is difficult and in the spreading phase. It is not possible to organise a traditional festival this summer, says the chairman of the board of Pro Kaustinen ry. Ira Korkala says.

Programme director Anne-Mari Hakamäki says that some of the big concerts will be postponed until next year, such as the much-anticipated concert by Sámi artist Mari Boinen concert.

- But it will still be a diverse and inclusive programme. There will be live concerts from Kaustinen every day. Performers include. Frigg, Mariska and Kaustinen HouseBand and Vesala - Järvelä - Rahmel -trio. The international programme will take place virtually," says Anne-Mari Hakamäki.

- Our aim is to organise some of the concerts as public events. We will do our utmost to ensure that the events can be organised in a safe manner, taking into account safety margins, Pro Kaustinen's Executive Director Valtteri Valo tells you.

The original ticket sales are closed, and the festival wants to return all tickets purchased so far so that next year's ticket sales can start again. Tickets can be returned until 31 August 2021. Existing tickets cannot be used for the following festivals. More information on how to return tickets will be available on our website.

Kaustinen will announce the programme on 15 June. Information on ticket sales for limited live audiences will also be available at that time.
