I lived here for three years, and yet only now do I see the moment in the year when Kaustinen really comes alive. Three days of festivals behind us now (for me) and still this one and tomorrow to go. But at this point, I have to gloat!

I never realised how cohesive, original and multicultural the spirit is here! Almost every corner of the whole municipality has been taken up (there are 27 venues in total), and the stages have been conceived with smart common sense. Indeed, the picture shows Kirilola from Japan on the tractor-trailer at the corner of the high school.

We've also heard Nepali, Australian and British music, and tomorrow we have a Spanish-Madagascar band (yes, and @anssikela).

It's as if you've gone further afield.

The school has seen a completely different look in the last few days, because Hanna (@vesihanna) and I have been scouring the school corridors and toilets (someone has to pay for this fun). It's a kind of work that fights against time and people's hassles; the other day I turned Maijasen Pave out of the toilet, who by the way performed yesterday together with the Kaustinen houseband, and of course one of the lecturers was playing the accordion.

These things still amaze this city girl from Savoie. 😀
