The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival is now organising a joint online playing session every second Saturday. The busking will always take place on Saturdays of odd weeks at 14:00 in the online play-along event. Next Saturday, 25 April, the live broadcast will be filmed at 14:00 in Kymenlaakso, which will be the festival's regional theme in 2021.
The first big concert was at Easter, led by the master puppeteer Mauno Järvelä. The new My Kaustinen group, which was launched at that time, already has more than 2500 members. This Saturday, the busking group will be led by Simo Helkala, Tuomas Vanhalakka and Maiju Laurila in Valkeala. In addition to playing, there will be chatting and singing.
You can join the call during or after the live broadcast, and the video will be saved in the My Kaustinen group on Facebook. The sheet music can always be found a couple of days in advance on the event page and in the My Kaustinen group under Photos/Albums (jpg image) and Files (printable pdf files).
You can also film your own playing moment and share a video or picture on the FB event invitation or My Kaustinen group for the enjoyment of others. You can also participate on Instagram. Friends of Kaustinen can find each other on all social media channels best by using the new subject tags #mykaustinen and #lauantainpuskasoitto.
At festivals, busking means that anyone can play alone, with a familiar group or with guests in a quiet corner.

The Folk Music Festival will not take place this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
- Of course, we follow the government's directive. There will be no big events in Finland next summer. None of us can do anything about this situation. The most important thing for us now is to take care of our health and our future," says Valtteri Valo, Executive Director of Pro Kaustinen.
