Kaustinen is involved in the Festaripörssi project. Organised by the University of Applied Sciences (HUMAK), the aim of the Festival Exchange is to encourage young people to volunteer at festivals. Priority is given to unemployed and uneducated young people aged 18-29.
The trainings will be held in Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Lappeenranta in May. The registration period for the trainings is currently open. To participate, fill in the registration form online at www.festariporssi.fi by 15 April.
But the Festival Exchange offers even more for young people. Young people who sign up to volunteer through Festaripörse receive training for their tasks and a certificate of their skills. A hygiene pass, a steward or a safety card will greatly improve your chances of finding a job after the festival.
The festival is organised by HUMAK
The idea for the festival exchange was born from an idea of HUMAK students, says Jyrki Simovaara, project manager of the project.
- The idea was born in the minds of cultural production students when they were tasked with coming up with ways to activate young people and at the same time support the organisation of cultural events. The idea was further developed at HUMAK and we secured EU funding for the project.
Simovaara believes that participating in the Festival Exchange is a great benefit for the young people themselves. For example, when looking for a job or a place to study, volunteering can be a decisive difference compared to other applicants.
- The fact that you like something and are working for it says a lot about your activism. That's the kind of person employers are looking for. That's why a work certificate from a festival is really important for a young person.
Young people who have registered for the Festival Exchange will participate in the festival as a team with an experienced mentor.
