Five bands will compete in the final of the national Konsta Jylhä competition on Wednesday 10 July. Eight bands played in the semi-final on Tuesday evening. The finalists were Anne-Mari Kanniainen & Heikki Ruokangas, Elias Frigård & Veera Kuisma, LempiLempi, NAM-trio and Polenta.
The Konsta Jylhä competition is organised in connection with the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival for the 10th time. The theme of the centenary year is Konsta Jylhä himself. His music can be interpreted in a traditional or free way. In the final, the bands will have 15 minutes to play in front of a jury.
The jury of the competition consists of the chairman Hannu Sahan in addition to Professor Emeritus Heikki Laitinen and a folk musician Ritva Talvitie. The competition is organised by Pelimannitalo in cooperation with the Folk Music Institute. A total of €10 000 in prizes will be awarded as the jury sees fit.
The final will start on Wednesday 10 July at 16:00, with the prize-giving at 19:00.
