New music city festival Lost In Music will be held for the 10th time in Tampere on 6.-8.10.2016. This year, the festival will also flesh out its pop-oriented programme with contemporary folk music. The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival has been invited to provide an evening of ear candy for the festival audience.
An evening dedicated to contemporary folk music is a good example of the blossoming, freshness and diversity of the chamber music scene. The performers have been chosen with Lost In Music's mainly pop music audience in mind - unprejudiced heralds of the folk music scene will take to the stage, using traditional folk music elements and instruments in inventive ways. The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival's selection of three performers will be heard on Friday 7 October at Telakka in Tampere.
Antti Paalanen challenges perceptions of accordion music and takes the timeless instrument from under the midsummer birch to the techno realm. Haaga Folk Machine is a folk all-rounder, combining pelican music with rock and bluesgrass with Celtic tunes. Topi Sahan The giants of transatlantic folk-rock, from Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen, are role models for strong-feeling folk rock.
Music & Media -Lost In Music, which has expanded into its own festival alongside the professional Lost In Music event, is Finland's largest showcase event for new Finnish music. The annual event features more than 100 artists performing at key venues in Tampere.
The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival will be held for the 50th time on 10-16 July 2017.
