The number of visitors to the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival continued to grow both in terms of tickets sold and total attendance. A total of 16 743 tickets were sold (2015: 15 740) and the total number of visitors was 42 892 (2015: 39 351).
The increase in the total number of visitors was mainly due to the still growing number of players at the festivals. 4,375 players, dancers and singers spent an average of four days at the festivals. There were 314 other performers. As last year, the free events attracted around 4,000 visitors.
The weather was not kind to Kaustinen visitors, and the festival was plagued by rain throughout the week. Despite the weather, the atmosphere was great and people enjoyed the area from morning till night.
50. The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival will take place from 10 to 16 July 2017. Chairman of Pro Kaustinen ry, the organiser of the event Sirpa Lahti rejoices in a successful celebration. ”We are looking forward to the coming year of celebrations, which we will be able to build together with the folk music and dance people of the whole country. Everyone is invited to our party!”
