All accommodations in Kaustinen are sold out for both motorhomes and caravans, but more and more people are also heading to the largest folk music festival in the Nordic countries with a tent.
As the Pohjan-Veikot festival camping site next to the sports field in Kaustinen and the Mosala camping area on the other side of the festival park have noticed, the number of campers is increasing year by year. Both promise that there will always be room for tents.
– There have been a lot, a lot of visitors this year, but at least so far everyone who has camped has managed to make it every year. There are more and more campers who stay the whole week and not just a few days like in the past, Kaustinen Pohjan-Veikko's operations manager Tanja Kaustinen tells you.
At the festival campsite, the cars have their own parking space, and you may have to leave the car further away for the final week. Advance reservations for the tent are not possible; instead, the places are allocated in order of arrival.
There are also more people sleeping in hammock every year. Their friends say they swear by the wonderful nights they get.
– Of course, there are only a certain number of trees. When the trees run out, those places then run out, Tanja Kaustinen smiles.
The festival camp has access to the services of the adjacent sports hall. In Mosala there is a swimming beach on the Perhonjoki river, the services of the Hotel Kaustinen, and the saunas of the festival’s spa village are open from Tuesday to Saturday.
