The 2025 festival.
The Kaustinen Folk Music Festival was first held in 1968 and has since grown into one of the most significant folk music events in the Nordic countries and across Europe. The Board of Finland Festivals named the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival Festival of the Year in 2024, and the event received the same title again in 2025 at the Music x Media Industry Awards gala.
The festival’s roots are firmly grounded in the region’s rich fiddler tradition, yet it boldly showcases contemporary folk and world music trends from across Finland and around the globe. All these musical worlds resonate seamlessly together at today’s festival. People return to this family friendly celebration year after year, drawn back by the unforgettable atmosphere that is uniquely Kaustinen.
