The winner is given the title \"m\u00e4sterfolks\u00e5ngare\" and since 2011 the title \"m\u00e4sterfolkdansare\" has also been awarded to those who have promoted folk dance in Finland through their work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\">This year, the title will be awarded for the third time. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Eivor Wallinvirta<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> (b. 1953, Helsinki) has been actively involved in Finnish-Svenskan folk dance and the Brage F\u00f6reningen since childhood. Her parents were actively involved in the association and so folk dancing became a self-evident interest for Eivor from an early age. She has also acted as an instructor for Brages folkdanslag and, for the last thirty years, as a riksinstrukt\u00f6r in the Finnish Swedish folkdansring. She has also worked in several other ways to develop Finnish folk dance.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"fi-FI\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Throughout his working career, Eivor has emphasised that tradition should be both a source of strength and a capacity for change. She sees the social benefits that folk dance offers as important, but also the plan in human history and identity that can be promoted through folk dance. In addition to dance itself and dance education, Eivor has also made a significant contribution to folk dance education.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\">\u00d6vriga m\u00e4stare i \u00e5r \u00e4r m\u00e4sterfolks\u00e5ngaren <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Jussi Asu <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\">including fattening coats <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Teuvo Anttila<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> (double bass), <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Mauno J\u00e4rvel\u00e4<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> (violin), <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Veikko Kuivala<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> (tr\u00e4skedar) and<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b> Tony Uusitalo<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> (double bass). Among them, especially Kaustbybon Mauno J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 (b. 1949) has made a significant contribution to folk music, especially by bringing it to the next generation. J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 knows the folk music tradition inside and out, and his son Johannes J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 was also a master spelman. After having trained as a musician at the Sibelius Academy, Mauno J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 flew back to Sweden in 1978, and has worked as a music teacher at the Medborgarinstitutet in Perho\u00e5dalen until last year. J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 has played in various ensembles and has been involved in the development of traditional folk music, while at the same time being familiar with the traditional style and repertoire before and after.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\">In addition <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"><b>Hannu Saha<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"fi-FI\"> Kaustinen Folk Music Festival-plaketten f\u00f6r betydande verksamhet inom folkmusikbranschen. Saha has served as head of the Folk Music Institute, chairman of the Central Commission for Music, professor at both Tammerfors University and the Sibelius Academy, and has held a number of other positions, including head of the Foundation for Music Promotion (MES).
