In Kaustby, the 50-year-old festival will be celebrated with inspiration from history but with a strong focus on the future. Enligt fest\u00e5rets Kalas-tema bjuder vi p\u00e5 \u00e5rhundradets fest med m\u00e5ngsidigt program och med inslag av regionalala festtraditioner. In this way, the festival is linked to the celebration of 100 years of Finland.<\/p>\n

\u00c5rets band, G\u00e1janas<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Till \u00e5rets ensemble 2017 har man valt det unga Gaianas<\/strong> from Enare which represents modern Swedish music. The band's music is a fresh combination of different styles of music, improvisation and traditional jazz. Frontwoman Hilda L\u00e4nsman, a student at the Sibelius Academy at the University of Konstun, follows her mother, Ulla Pirttij\u00e4rvi, who started a solo career after Angel's Girl, in exploring and developing the Sami music tradition. Together with L\u00e4nsman, the virtuoso brothers Nicholas and Kevin Francett and Erkki Feodoroff create a ljudlandskap med inslag av progressiv rock och grunge. \u00c4ven de \u00f6verraskande kombinationerna sm\u00e4lter harmoniskt samman med L\u00e4nsman jojkar. Genom att v\u00e4lja Gaianas<\/strong> till \u00e5rets ensemble, Kaustinen Folk Music Festival wants to promote the preservation of Sami culture, music and Sami traditions, as well as Sami national days and their centuries-old history.<\/p>\n

Ut\u00f6ver G\u00e1janas f\u00e5r vi se den ljusstarkaste kvinnokvartetten inom amerikansk folk, Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards<\/strong>; fr\u00e5n en liten by i Venezuela kommer den karismatiska och skickliga ensemblen Betsayda Machado & La Parranda el Clavo<\/strong> for the first time in Europe; together with the \u201dmusiktornadon\u201d, the \"music tornado\" Fiddlers\u2019 Bid<\/strong> fr\u00e5n Shetlands\u00f6arna upptr\u00e4der v\u00e5r finska motsvarighet - virtuosa Frigg<\/strong>. Estonia's most popular party band Trad.Attack!<\/strong> inleder Estonia's 100th anniversary of independence in Kaustby. Among the local artists we can listen to vocal folk hop bands such as Windstar<\/strong> which was part of the showcase series in 2013 and which now tours the world, Niko Kumpuvaara's folk orchestra with Paula Koivuniemi<\/strong> som solist samt Kaustbys legendariska Folk music<\/strong>, Prussian Hook<\/strong> och snart 20 \u00e5r gamla T\u00f6tterss\u00f6n<\/strong> i en en gemensam konsert. Among the artists on the children's album are Timo Parvela's Flavour and Bunny<\/strong>-reporting consert and Satu Sopanen & Tutti Orchestra.<\/strong>\u00a0Legendary Helvi Jukarainen's choreographies come to life in a folk dance concert created by a folk singer from the m\u00e4sterfolkdansaren Hannu Nipuli<\/strong>. Vi v\u00e4ntar igen p\u00e5 hundratals spelmansgrupper, och Thunder Bay Pelimannit<\/strong> from Ontario, Canada and Sons of America<\/strong> from the Fifteen States is certainly among those with the longest way home.<\/p>\n

Till sommarens showcase-serie 2017 har vi valt tre band bland flera kandidater. Marko Siekkinen & Toivoniemi Reserve<\/strong> kommer fr\u00e5n Ule\u00e5borg och tolkar levnadshistorier med sin bluegrass- och folkmusik. Duo Systrami<\/strong> consist\u00e5r av ett tvillingpar fr\u00e5n Norra Sverige och harmonin i deras musik kan h\u00f6ras s\u00e5v\u00e4l i arrangemangen och i tolkningarna. Perpetuum Locomobile<\/strong> \u00e4r skickliga musikers moderna vision om v\u00e4rldsmusikens ljudlandskap mitt i kaoset.<\/p>\n

The \u00e5ttonde riksomfattande Konsta Jylh\u00e4-t\u00e4vlingen<\/strong> will be held at the festival on 10.-11.7.2017. This year's event is intended for small groups (2-4 persons) and will only consist of one series, unlike in previous years. The music in the event should be folk music, mostly in traditional or modern style. Even modern music must have a strong link to tradition. The event is organised by Spelmanshuset i Kaustby (Kaustinen Pelimannitalo) in cooperation with the Folk Music Institute and the performances will be presented at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival. The total prize is \u20ac10 000.<\/p>\n
